FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Does this System Work?

We (Universal Fans) have partnered with a third party trade booking service to offer Ceiling Fan Installation Australia wide. The third party booking service has a large database of fully qualified, appropriately insured Electricians who will provide a professional installation service.

Once you have ordered your Ceiling Fan(s) from universalfans.com.au you will find a link to the third party booking portal in your order confirmation email. Select the required installation options, enter your details and submit payment for your installation request. If you need more than 3 fans installed simply complete the quick quote form found on the booking portal for a customised price based on the scope of the work required.

When Do I Pay For my Ceiling Fan Installation?

Payment is made via the online booking portal. Payment options are credit/debit card or paypal. If you require more than 3 fans to be installed simply complete the quick quote form on the booking portal, at which point you will be provided with a quote based on the scope of work required. This quote is typically submitted in 1-2 working days.

As per the above terms and conditions if additional payment is required due to additional complexities, you will be made aware of these costs before the electrician undertakes the work. Additional payment needs to be made directly to the installing electrician.

What’s the turnaround for installation & what happens once I pay for the service?

Once your booking has been submitted the booking portal will begin the process of matching you with the most appropriate trades person based on your requirements and geographical location. This is typically a quick process and may take anything between 1-2 working days. An email will be sent to you with the installing Electricians contact details. Metro areas (eg Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne) will most likely experience quicker response times than areas where remoteness results in fewer tradespeople in the area.

IMPORTANT: It is advisable to wait until you have received delivery of your ceiling fans before contacting the designated Electrician.Needless to say it is imperative that you have the ceiling fans in your possession on the designated date/time for installation.

What happens if something goes wrong with the installation or the fan does not work?

As your fan will be installed by a qualified electrician your fan will be covered by the standard ‘in home warranty’ offered with all ceiling fans. This means that standard warranty procedures apply, for more information see section 8 Faulty Products & Warranties on this page.

For ceiling fans (and some other products), all our fans come with manufacturer express ‘in-home’ warranties, which means that where appropriate, the manufacturer will organise a service agent to bring the replacement parts to you, and to do the testing of the faulty product and the replacement on the spot. This means you have no out of pocket expenses, and you only need to make the one warranty claim, and not organise anything else!

Important – If you have had your ceiling fan installed and believe it is faulty, please contact us or the manufacturer immediately and DO NOT remove the fan. If the electrician is still at the premises, ask them to call the warranty line for trouble shooting assistance.

You may therefore prefer to use the direct manufacturer warranty service to handle your warranty claims, however please note that you are not obliged to do so and may forward your warranty claim to us (Universal Fans) for assistance at any time.

What if I need to Cancel my Installation request?

If you need to cancel your installation request post payment but before you have arranged a date/time with the installing electrician a refund will be provided minus a $15 cancellation fee (this minimal fee is in place to cover transaction fees and administrative tasks associated with cancelling a request).

A futile fee of $110 will be charged if the service cannot be delivered due to reasons such as customer or product unavailability onsite or site not as per customer’s description and extra charges are not accepted.
