Ceiling Fans

Being one of the only ceiling fans, exhaust fans and pedestal fans specialist shop in Australia, we have a very wide range of ceiling fans, from the common 3 blade white metal ceiling fan to the high quality Hunter ceiling fan, as well as many good quality and inexpensive ceiling fans in many designs such as contemporary style ceiling fan, traditional ceiling fan and unusual ceiling fan. We carry most of the ceiling fans brands and models available in Australia from well known brands such as Hunter-Pacific ceiling fans, Hunter ceiling fans, Omega ceiling fans, Martec ceiling fans, Cinni ceiling fans and many other brands and models of ceiling fans.

Ceiling fans have become more popular in recent years as people discover that ceiling fans are a very energy efficient way of cooling: they cool people instead of trying to cool large volumes of air. While ceiling fans must be primarily fully functional and efficient, the range of styles, materials and colours available in ceiling fans today mean that the design, style and colour of the ceiling fan may be coordinated to suit the decor of the room and our friendly staff will help you choose, from our large selection of ceiling fans, a ceiling fan to suit your needs, style and decor.

Many people look for ceiling fans with lights and we have many ceiling fans with lights (integrated light from the manufacturer) and also many ceiling fans with lights made up of a ceiling fan and a separate light and we have a great range of ceiling fan lights from many manufacturers. So you can have your ceiling fan and make it into a ceiling fan with light simply by adding a light of your choice and not being limited to only the manufacturers light. It is a common misconception that people look for a ceiling fan with lights not realising that it can be made up of aq ceiling fan and a separate light, rather than being a single unit ceiling fan with light.

Hunter Ceiling Fans

In a recent article, updated in September, 2009, a well known consumer magazine, Choice, tested ceiling fans available in Australia and ranked the Hunter ceiling fans highest in its various categories. Universal Fans has been supplying Hunter ceiling fans to the public since their arrival in Australia about 10 years ago. Universal Fans has most Hunter ceiling fan models on display including the Hunter Vista (rated as the best ceiling fan) Hunter Carera ceiling fan, Hunter Savoy ceiling fan, Hunter Industrie ceiling fan and many other fans higly rated by Choice magazine. We also carry a complete range of accessories for the Hunter ceiling fans including ceiling fans extension rods, wall controls and remote controls for the Hunter ceiling fans. See our page on Hunter ceiling fan.
Henter Pacific International
is another company marketing ceiling fans in Australia . Similar in the use of the Hunter name but otherwise a completely different company. Interestingly, Hunter Pacific is an Australian company and they design some of the ceiling fans they market and import the other models, often from the same factory that makes their designs. Their most famous product is probably the Hunter Pacific Concept fan which has now been copied by just about every other manufacturer (including Hunter Pacific themselves) but unfortunately, most are inferior copies. Choice magazine has rated the Hunter Pacific Typhoon ceiling fan very highly. They actually rated the Hunter Pacific Typhoon 316 and as only the material used differs from the Typhoon Brushed Chrome / 304 blades (and the other colours), the same performance figures applies.
People are often confused by the similar names for these two companies which is a pity as they both have good products but are generally very different in design and price.

Fanimation Ceiling Fans

Universal Fans has recently added models from the Fanimation range of ceiling fans and models from the Emerson ceiling fans range. These ceiling fan models are designed in the USA and feature very unusual designs, for example the Punkah ceiling fan is a like a series of large "hand held" fans, the Treventi ceiling fans can be "dressed up" to give it an oriental look, an african look and many other options. There is also an extra large ceiling fan with 2m long blades ideal for larger areas. See our page on USA ceiling fans

Ceiling Fans Information

We will also have information on each ceiling fan in our range as well as accessories for ceiling fans like ceiling fan lights and ceiling fan remotes. We encourage clients to consult with us and we can ensure your ceiling fan choice will be the best for your needs. We find many people have heard condradictory stories about ceiling fans, for example some people come to us saying they have heard that 3 blade ceiling fans move more air, others have been told that 4 blade ceiling fans are better than 3 blade ceiling fans. We here similar contradictions with metal and timber blades, etc. Some people come after being told ceiling fans with 18 pole motors are better than ceiling fans with 16 pole motors.
The reality is not so simple, as with most other things. The poles in a motor do affect its performance, but so do the rotors, the windings, stator, etc. Air movement is affected by the number of blades but also by the angle, shape and width of the blades. The material of the blades (metal , timber and others) also has an effect, fior example, a good metal bladed fan running at top speed will make more wind noise than a similar timber bladed fan .... but it wil also move more air !. At low speeds, metal bladed fans can be as quiet as timber bladed fans. Our clients find that as a specialist shop, our staff have the knowledge to explain to them in a logical way why some ceiling fans are better than others and what are the characteristics that make some ceiling fans better, for example for lounges than bedrooms We encourage our clients to explain what they will use the ceiling fan for and we can then advise them.
